On japantag, the city center of Düsseldorf transforms for one day into a Japanese experience. Düsseldorf has a rich history of trading with Japan and the local Japanese people who live there. As a result, a quarter of the companies of Japanese origin in Germany are located in this region. Additionally, Japantag also attracts many foreign visitors, who have flocked to the city after it was cancelled for two years. Japanese pop culture was more prevalent than expected, with anime merchandise, snacks, and cosplayers.
