Japan Markt Leiden 2023

Share

A day full of Japanese culture took place in central Leiden on 28 May. During the busy market, visitors could become acquainted with a wide variety of the Japanese culture. Upon arrival, visitors were greeted by stalls selling prints, bonsai trees, ikebana and detailed kimonos. But modern Japanese culture was also represented. Manga, anime and Cosplay were present. At noon, the Japan Market was opened by Kris Schiermeier, the director of Japanmuseum SieboldHuis, in the presence of Japan’s ambassador, Hiroshi Minami, and the mayor of Leiden, Henri Lenferink. The opening was accompanied by loud Taiko drums, filling the air with rhythms. A nice medium sized market but maybe a bit to small for the amount of people that visited.
